{"id":1941,"date":"2016-01-21T00:12:05","date_gmt":"2016-01-21T00:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thebrandingjournal.com\/?p=1941"},"modified":"2016-01-21T00:14:09","modified_gmt":"2016-01-21T00:14:09","slug":"beauty-booking-site-wahanda-rebrands-as-treatwell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebrandingjournal.com\/2016\/01\/beauty-booking-site-wahanda-rebrands-as-treatwell\/","title":{"rendered":"Beauty booking site Wahanda rebrands as Treatwell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>After a major acquisition and expansion during the past year, the website offering reductions for hair &amp; beauty products and services has undergone a major rebrand with a new name: Treatwell.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>The challenge<\/h1>\n<p>Over six months, Design Studio &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebrandingjournal.com\/2014\/07\/airbnbs-consistent-rebrand-focuses-sense-belonging-community\/\">the same branding agency that worked on Airbnb\u2019s last overhau<\/a><\/span>l &#8211; worked closely with Wahanda to unify all the businesses under the new Treatwell brand, and form an undisputed leader in the European market. This meant defining a brand strategy that would appeal to all ten countries where they operate.<\/p>\n<h1>The Strategy<\/h1>\n<p><strong>New name and brand positioning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Treatwell is the name of the German rival company that Wahanda acquired in 2015 for about \u20ac34m.\u00a0 Wahanda is a word that doesn\u2019t mean anything specific in any language covered by the business, which started to be problematic for the group.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWahanda may have\u00a0built a pretty substantial brand presence in the UK, but it was a totally different situation in other places,\u201d Champalimaud said. \u201cIn Italy the word is hard to pronounce, and nowhere does Wahanda actually say what it means.\u201d explained Lopo Champalimaud, Founder of Wahanda and CEO of the newly named Treatwell group.<br \/>\n\u201cAs we continue to pursue our global ambitions, it makes sense to operate under one brand. But we didn\u2019t stop there. We also took the opportunity to improve the experience for both our customers and business partners.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Design Studio hosted a series of workshops and interviewed Wahanda\u2019s most important stakeholders. This led to important insights that moved the brand positioning towards the concept of celebrating individuality. The branding agency decided to position the brand as a platform for self-expression instead of being just a booking website. Treatwell now offers personalized experiences to every single customer.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Williams, DesignStudio\u2019s Creative Director who led the project adds, \u201cWe wanted to change how beauty is perceived. The mix of vivid illustrations and photographs, with lines evoking movement reflects the vitality of the brand.<\/p>\n<p>Together with the client, the agency developed a set of guidelines and tools that will help the team implement the brand across a variety of countries and touch points.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe rebrand reflects the unified Treatwell, full of energy and vitality,\u201d said Champalimaud.\u201cThe results match our ambitions for the future and offer our community an exciting new experience wherever they may be in Europe\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Treatwell
